Major General Max Haston, the 75th Adjutant General of Tennessee, addressed the Rachel Stockley Donelson (RSD) Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) at its May 11, 2017 meeting at The Hermitage. As the Adjutant General, General Haston oversees the Military Department of Tennessee that includes the following: the Army National Guard, the Air National Guard, the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, and the Tennessee State Guard. General Haston was accompanied by his aide, First Lieutenant Mike Donovan. The members were further honored that Mrs. Anne Haston, a member of the Samuel Frazier DAR Chapter in Knoxville, was able to attend.
General Haston presented a fabulous video that highlighted the 2016 activities of all the various organizations under his command. He, also, showed a PowerPoint program that explained the structure of Tennessee’s Military Department and the tasks assigned to each component. Tennessee is the 17th state in size of population, but the 7th state in regards to the military. General Haston inferred that the Volunteer Spirit of Tennessee dating back to previous years is still alive and well in Tennessee today.
