Frist Art Center’s An Art Deco Affair
The Frist Art Center’s An Art Deco Affair attracted 500 people who loved viewing Bellissima! The Italian Automotive Renaissance, 1945–1975, which celebrates the visual dynamism and spirit of innovation characterizing Italian coachbuilt cars, concept cars and motorcycles produced during the post–World War II economic revival.
Guest curator Ken Gross chose 19 automobiles and 3 motorcycles from private collections and museums that are among the finest examples of Italian automotive design, including vehicles by Alfa Romeo, Bizzarrini, Ducati, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lancia and Maserati.
After drooling over the exhibit, everyone enjoyed a cocktail buffet which offered polenta with short ribs, chicken picatta, petite files al la Marsala, garlic potatoes, squash gratin, sweets by MC Confections, and much more.
The fabulous collection of vehicles will remain on exhibit at The Frist until October 9. For more information, visit www.fristcenter.org or call 615-244-3340.
Studio Tenn, One Night Only Fundraiser
Studio Tenn’s One Night Only Fundraiser was held at The Factory, where the performance by many local and national performers was, quite simply, fabulous!
Selections from Broadway to Frank Sinatra favorites to a Motown medley had members of the audience cheering their approval. Among the super talented performers were American Idol stars Melinda Doolittle and Diana DeGarmo, Matt Logan, Jake Speck, Eden Espinosa, Ben Crawford, Laura Matula, Matt Giraud, Libby Black, Patrick Thomas, Piper Jones, John Mark McGaha, Melodie Adams, Anthony Crivello, and Erin Parker.
The large online auction offered items for the home, art, memorabilia, entertainment, food, and lessons. One of the many outstanding offers were tickets to the Broadway show Hamilton, now playing in Chicago.
Featuring cuisine by Chef Curtis Bates, platters were filled with pork in lettuce cups, watermelon shooters, meatballs and more.
Committee members included: Trish and Jim Munro, Vicki Stout, Chaz Corzine, Katherine Pope, Carl Haley, Laura Musgrave, and Robin Newton.
Project Return Public Officials’ Reception
Local nonprofit Project Return invited Metro and state officials to a reception and tour of the group’s downtown offices to learn more about its work.
Project Return, founded in 1979, helps people when they are released from incarceration to return to the Nashville community.
The focus is finding and keeping employment, the number one predictor of re-entry success, according to the charity.
Guests at the reception learned more about the free, voluntary job readiness program and partnerships with local employers, as well as the wraparound social services offered to help build new lives.
