Sparkle & Twang XI

The Tennessee State Museum Foundation recently held “Sparkle & Twang XI” at the new Bound’ry event venue.

Guests were treated to specialty cocktails, delicious hor d’oeuvres, trendy silent auction, and musical entertainment. Jamie Baskin, Krystal Clark, Adam Foote, Jenny Young, and Kyle Young were inducted into the 2016-17 Young Professionals Council. The 2016 Costume & Textile Institute Inductees were Sarah Bellos (Textile Dye Maker), Hardwick Clothes, Inc. (Tailored Menswear), Mary Lawless (Trendsetter & Lifestyle Blogger), and Patricia Nash (Designer & Entrepreneur). Mark and Tamsyn Dreps donated the Italian sparkling wine for the special “Enza Prosecco bar.”

Jazzmania

Nashville Jazz Workshop (NJW) hosted Jazzmania 2016 at The Factory of Franklin.

Musical entertainment was provided by a NJW eight-piece All-Star band including Denis Solee, Roland Barber, Bruce Dudley, Marcus Finnie, Evan Cobb, Michael Rinne, Jamey Simmons, and Steve Herrman.

Also featured was vocalist and Fisk Jubilee Singers alumna, Donna McElroy, backed by Chester Thompson (former Frank Zappa, Genesis, Phil Collins drummer), Lori Mechem and Roger Spencer.

Everyone enjoyed a buffet by Sargent’s Catering offering paella, Spanish omelet, a salad bar, and much more.

The auction offered a week at a beach house in Grayton Beach, Florida, an oil painting by Martica Griffin, dinner at the home of Jim and Sylvia Cappellino, a cast bronze male ballet dancer by Alan Lequire, and a private evening in the Jazz Cave.

All proceeds benefit the Jazz Workshop classes, performances, and programs for the community.

Sunday in the Park

The 27th annual Sunday in the Park benefitted the wonderful Percy and Edwin Warner Parks, 3,132 acres of green that is much appreciated in the city.

Monies raised are dedicated to the preservation, protection and stewardship of The Warner Parks, the promotion of educational programs which inspire appreciation and stewardship of this unique resource, as well as maintenance and enhancement of the beauty of the parks and their historic structures.

The event’s founding member and honorary chair is another treasure of our city, Clare Armistead. Lorie Duke and  Jay Joyner designed the event and florals were by The Tulip Tree.

Kristin Winston Catering provided an iceberg wedge salad, lemon thyme chicken, and apple crisp sundae.

Tiffany Circle Fall Luncheon

The 2016 Tiffany Circle Fall Luncheon was hosted by Anne Russell at Belle Meade Country Club to benefit the Red Cross and celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Tennessee Region Tiffany Circle and the centennial of the Red Cross in Tennessee.

Everyone enjoyed a meal of butternut squash soup, spinach and gruyere quiche, and fried apple pie, before hearing from speaker Bonnie McElveen-Hunter, board chair of the American Red Cross and founder of the Tiffany Circle

Russell welcomed the group and Cheryl Read, Nashville Area Tiffany Circle chair, gave an overview of the Red Cross. Barbara Bovender, Tennessee Tiffany chair, introduced the speaker. Katie Crumbo, the organization’s vice-chair, gave closing remarks.

Ten years ago, Betsy Wills, Susan Lanigan and Jennifer Cooke started the state-wide Tiffany Circle. Today, with 54 members, it has grown to be one of the largest and strongest in the nation and Tennessee Tiffany Circle members donated and pledged more than $956,000 last year in support of the Red Cross.

Weigel/Henderson Marriage Celebration

Kevin Henderson and Meredith Weigel Henderson flew to the islands and got married this summer and recently they celebrated their union at a party at the home of her parents, Patsy and Bob Weigel.

The weather for the party was perfect and a dance floor and tent in the yard enticed guests outside to move to the music of the 10-piece Jimmy Church Band.

Caterer Mickey Trainer prepared a delicious buffet with beef tenderloin on rolls, cocktail shrimp, fruit and cheese, vegetables and dip, spinach artichoke dip with crackers, and numerous mini desserts.
