League of Women Voters Celebration

The League of Women Voters of Nashville, a local nonprofit organization encouraging informed and active participation of citizens in government, hosted “Women’s Suffrage and Beyond” at the Hermitage Hotel.
David Ewing shared the story of the Hermitage Hotel and its role in the passage of the 19th Amendment. Honorary event chair Jane Anderson Dudley also addressed the group.

Cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a cake with yellow roses symbolizing suffrage were served at the event.

The League of Women Voters was founded in February, 1920, six months before all women in America were guaranteed the right to vote through the passage of the 19th Amendment.

The League of Women Voters of Nashville is a nonpartisan organization encouraging informed and active participation of citizens in government. It influences public policy through education and advocacy and does not endorse or oppose any political party or candidate.
