The Rachel Awards celebration, presented by the Metropolitan Nashville Air- port Authority and hosted by the Donelson-Hermitage Chamber of Commerce, was held at Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage on Friday evening, August 11th, 2017. The awards are named after First Lady Rachel Jackson, wife of Andrew Jackson, the Seventh President of the United States. This is the first year for the event.
Nine very deserving women were named as finalists and recognized for their contributions to the community in one of three categories; three were named award winners. Dr. Janet Clodfelter received the Pinnacle Financial Partners Keeper of the Flame Award; Anna Shepherd was the recipient of The Master Gardener Award presented by the Exchange Club of Donelson-Hermitage; and Jane Eakes received the Boot Strap Award presented by the Law Office of Jennifer McCoy.
Winners were selected from submitted nominations and received a scholarship to Argosy University to complete Bachelor, Master’s or Doctorate programs. The event was emceed by award-winning journalist and producer, Terri Merryman.
