According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), approximately 2.2 million farmers operate 2.1 million farms covering about 900 million acres that generates much more than the food we eat. A small representative of farmers and ranchers, who are members of the American Farm Bureau Federation AFBF) attending its 99th convention, applauded President Donald Trump’s message of tax reform, an effective tax rate, repealing estate taxes, reducing taxable income and creating funds for increased business investments, and the popular crop insurance program.
“We will rebuild rural America,” President Trump said on Monday at Opryland, adding that “farmers are the basis of liberty.”
President Trump, the first president in 25 years to address the farmers’ annual convention, addressed the need for improved broadband availability in rural areas and easier requirements for providers to place cell towers on federal lands. This issue is part of the one trillion dollar infrastructure plan.
“America’s farmers and ranchers are ready for a tax system that recognizes their hard work and the unique challenges they face while reducing the tax burden that threatens their livelihoods,” stated American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall.
