MNPD Police Sergeant of 16-years resigns, under criminal investigation

Specialized Investigations Division (SID) Narcotics Ser- geant James Landon Dunaway submitted his resignation last Friday to the Metropolitan Police Department after criminal and administrative investigations showed he pocketed more than $5,000 cash during a late night sting at a Donelson motel set up by the police department’s Office of Professional Accountability.

The sting began in September after one of the officers present during the execution of a drug search warrant at 750 Spence Enclave Way in Donelson observed Dunaway taking some cash and putting it into his pocket.

Dunaway was charged with felony theft and is free on $2,000 bond. A criminal investigation continues.
Dunaway, 42, was a 16-year police department employee.
