Hermitage event, Shakespeare and Fall feature

Hermitage event: Phil Ponder reminds us the Donelson-Hermitage Exchange Club will hold their Second Annual Field of Honor Veterans Day Weekend Novem- ber 8-12. The display of 1,000 American Flags can be viewed on the “Victory Field” facing Lebanon Road at Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage. The entrance is just off Old Hickory Boulevard in Hermit- age at 4580 Rachel’s Lane. the opening ceremony is Friday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. with the closing ceremony Sunday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. Contact Phil Ponder at 615-481-4496 for further information or visit healingfield.org/hermitage17/ on the internet.

Shakespeare: Shakespeare in the Park continues long weekends through August and September in the Centennial Park Bandshell, 2500 West End Ave.  Performances are free but donations are welcomed. “Anthony and Cleopatra” will also be onstage this weekend, August 17-20. “Winter’s Tale” will be performed alternate weekends. Fall feature: Co-chairman Nancy Russell has sent Dru’s Vues a reminder of the Fall Harvest Dinner at Cheekwood coming up Sunday, October 1.  The evening features “dining in plain air” in Cheekwood’s Bradford Robertson Color Garden. Middle Tennessee’s Horticultural Society is sponsoring both the dinner and the planting of 5,000 fall-hued chrysanthemums blooming this fall throughout Cheek-wood’s gardens.
