This past Sunday, September 17 was the 230th anniversary of the signing of the Constitution of the United States, and to mark the occasion, fourth-grade students at Donelson Christian Academy. participated in “Constitution Week” events sponsored by the office of U.S. Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn.). The classroom was visited by a member of Corker’s staff, who delivered an interactive presentation to the students.
“Each year, my office has the privilege of speaking with students across the Volunteer State about the document that has served as the foundation of our country for more than 200 years, and I am proud to join my fellow Tennesseans in celebrating the United States Constitution in this way,” said Corker.
“One of the ways we can honor and defend the Constitution is to ensure the next generation of leaders understand its importance to our liberty and values. I hope the students who attend our events across the state walk away with an interest in our nation’s history and recognize what a blessing it is to live in the greatest country on Earth.”
The Constitution of the United States was signed on September 17, 1787. In 1956, Congress requested that Pre- sident Eisenhower proclaim a Constitution Week each September.
Corker’s office has held Constitution Week events across the Volunteer State every year since the senator was elected to office in 2007.
